Although a countryside retreat there are many wonderful beaches coastal walks and sheltered coves nearby as well as many local towns such as Bideford with its well known pannier market shops and restaurants or Bude which is perfect for surfers and sunbathers alike. The local fishing village of Clovelly with its cobbled streets is worth a visit or larger attractions such as the family theme parks The Big Sheep and The Milky Way all provide a great day out for the whole family. Farm activities: guests are encouraged to visit the Golden Guernsey goats chickens turkeys and geese on the family farm and are welcome to help the owners feed the animals. Amenities: ample off-road parking. Bed linen and towels included. Wi-fi available. Regret no smoking. 1 well-behaved dog welcome more by arrangement. Dog sitting by arrangement. The narrow, steeply cobbled main street of Clovelly, which runs down the hill to the harbour at its foot, lends this north Devon village a unique and distinctive character. Steeped in history and full of interesting shops this coastal village is a 'must see' for any visitor to this part of the county.
Clovelly is unusual in being privately owned, by the same family since 1738, who maintain a policy of keeping the village traffic-free and in the style of the mid 19th century. This is reflected in the buildings and architecture and the quiet, non-commercialised, appearance of this jewel in North Devon's crown.
